10 great tips to get started on working out!

As I promised yesterday, here are 10 great tips to get started on exercising!

1. Choose an exercise that’s enjoyable to yourself

Not all training must be done in the gym. Like to rollerskate? Throw some B-ball? Tennis? You should always pick something that you enjoy as your starting exercise. That way you'll start to have fun while working out

2. Start out slowly

Start out with short exercises, and make the decision to make them longer everytime. Or increaase the intensity of the training. And don’t expect to turn into marathon runner overnight. Be patient, the prize will come!

3. Make a commitment

Make a commitment to stick with your program, repeat it to yourself everyday, and your subconscious will follow. If you find yourself not able to meet your goals, change them a bit, so you will achieve them. Don't make them too easy though, so you'll get the results you want.

4. Take a friend with you and compete

A workout partner is one of the most powerful ways to make your workout fun. And if you need any help in certain exercises, the help is near. Making it a competition is also great way to motivate you both. Make a small bet once in a while, gives you the extra effort!

5. Get a dog

You know what consumes a lot of energy? Puppies! Yes, those little furry things! If you can’t motivate to work out for yourself, at least do it for your new furry friend!

6. Join a sports team

Even more fun than one friend is a group of friends. Sports teams are a great way to get your weekly workouts. It also brings routine to your training, because often the weekly trainings are at the same time.

7. Music, podcasts and audiobooks

If you ain't that much into team sports, your iPod/iPhone is still there for you. Put together an inspiring workout mix, (I've used http://motiontraxx.com/ , they have some pretty neat tunes, even as a free download) or download your favorite podcasts and audiobooks and let the time fly by while exercising!

8. Get some new equipment to aid in your training

Even as an adult, we still enjoy our new toys. Get something new to get an extra kick to your workout!
New mp3 player, new shoes or something that helps you get better results. Try it.

9. Caffeine charge

Sometimes a long day at work can make an evening workout seem impossible. At situations like this, caffeine might be the answer. After about half an hour you’ll need to workout to burn off that extra energy + you'll get a nice little energyboost!

10. Reward yourself

Sticking to your workout program consistently is a great accomplishment, even if your actual goal seems small and insignificant to you. If you have been working out regularly, don’t forget to reward yourself every now and then. It will keep you motivated much better!

There you go! Hope it gives you a kick to start exercising!
Have a great weekend =)
